Caramelised pear and walnut, gorgonzola and Hartlief Black Forest Ham salad
This salad is opulent and decadent, the centrepiece of every table. The strong flavours of the salad complement the Black Forest Ham brilliantly. The finishing touch is the creamy, flavourful gorgonzola which you can crumble or cut into small wedges. To make your salad even more impressive, always serve on a large flat platter or plate. For the more adventurous cook, we have included a recipe for balsamic reduction.
  1. Wash pears, core and cut into quarters.
  2. Melt butter and lemon juice in a pan, and add a good grinding of black pepper.
  3. Place pears and walnuts into the pan, and cook until a yummy, golden caramel colour. Don’t overcook the pears.
  4. do not leave your pan unattended as it will burn.
  5. Remove from the heat and cool.
  6. Plate your greens and the rocket onto the serving platter.
  7. Cut the Black Forest Ham slices into half. Fold into quarters and arrange onto the greens.
  8. Top with pears, walnuts and gorgonzola.
  9. Spoon the pan juices over the salad.
  10. Drizzle balsamic reduction before serving.
